Katherine Connelly, author of Sylvia Pankhurst: Suffragette, Socialist and Scourge of Empire (Pluto, 2013), has shot a short video with us, in which she discusses Pankhurst’s early involvement with the militant suffragette movement led by her mother and older sister; how she developed her own women’s campaign which sought to make the vote relevant to people’s lives; her later struggles against fascism, racism and imperialism; and finally her legacy and relevance for activists today.
